Sometimes, the austenitic phase is termed the вЂњ parentвЂќ phase. For superelastic and shape memory alloys, the two phases are normally termed вЂњ austeniteвЂќ (stable at higher temperatures) and вЂњ martensiticвЂќ phase (stable at lower temperatures).
